Even tho Baluchistan is an area of barren
deserts, lands and mountains, the Baloch
culture is full of traditions. The people belonging
to Buloch tribes speak the ancient language of Balochi. The tribes have a head
known as “sardar”, the sub divided tribes also have heads known as “Malik” or
“Takari” or “Mir”. These tribe heads are members of districts and local
Jirgas. In Baloch culture marriages are different and unique in there own way.
Usually the marriages are done at a young age, mostly teenagers, but are
arranged at early childhood, or at birth. There are not many "love" marriages
because it is not appreciated across the culture in all tribes. The divorce rate is
very low in Baluchistan compared to other areas in Pakistan because they
consider it a form of disrespect for the family and honor of the tribe. Music,
dancing, and songs are a big part of the Baloch culture. Famous wedding songs
are Nazenk and Salonk. The instrument that they mainly use is a flute, other
instruments are the Nal, Tamboora, and Soroz.
